Weaving is a deeply rooted tradition in Albania, with each region boasting its own techniques and designs: geometric patterns in the South, colorful and naïve motifs in the North, flat weaving (kilim) in the plains, and knotted carpets in the mountainous areas. During the transition from the collectivist regime to a market economy in the 1990s, state-run workshops ceased to exist, leaving weaving as a practice limited to family settings.
Po! Paris revives this living skill by bringing together the expertise of Albanian women weavers and Paris-based creatives. Today, three workshops produce Po! Paris designs, each specializing in different techniques.
Wool bags
Our wool bags are handwoven in Albania in a women-led cooperative workshop. The embroidered patterns are designed by Nathalie Lété and feature themes such as Sea, Flowers, Birds, or Nathalie’s Characters. The pattern is knotted on one side of the bag. Each bag is absolutely unique.
Cushions
Discover our wool cushions with embroidered designs. Many artists have contributed to the creation of the patterns, which are embroidered by Albanian weavers.
Tote bags
In Tirana, it is possible to commission custom embroidery, particularly for special occasions such as engagements or weddings. Women here practice on burlap recycled from coffee sacks.
We have intentionally left the recycled canvas exposed, sometimes still showing the original brand markings. Various series of patterns are embroidered onto this canvas. Several designers contribute to the design of our tote bags.
Rugs
Our weavers master more than a dozen ancestral rug-weaving techniques. Combined with our creative and collaborative approach, this results in a collection of truly unique rugs. You can choose to place them on the floor or hang them on the wall as a piece of art.
Wall decor
A collection of unique pieces that can be mounted on the wall or placed on the floor. Explore our headboards, wall rugs, and posters here.
